Choose automatic or manual payouts

Choose whether we send your balance each month or hold it until you ask, and set your threshold.

You choose how your balance leaves Spare Music. We can send it each month, or hold it until you ask for it.

The 2 options

Automatic (marked Recommended). We send your full balance every month, as long as it clears your threshold. Payouts go out between the 10th and the 18th of each month, and Earnings shows your next date, for example Next auto-payout Nov 16. Unless you've changed it, your account is set to Automatic with a $0 threshold.

Manual. We hold your balance until you request a payout. A request always sends your entire balance, and we process it within 7 days. If you can't request a payout, check that you're on Manual, your account is in good standing, and you have no other payout request waiting.

Manual suits you if your earnings are still small and you want to avoid transfer fees. Automatic suits you if you'd rather not think about payouts.

Change your preference

  1. In the menu on the left, select Earnings.

  2. Under Wallet balance, select Payout preferences.

  3. Choose Automatic or Manual.

  4. If you chose Automatic, enter your Threshold in whole dollars, from $0 to $250.

  5. Select Save preferences. To close without changing anything, select Cancel.

How the threshold works

The threshold is the smallest balance we'll pay out automatically. If your balance is below it, nothing is sent that month, and the money carries over to next month. Each payout has a transfer fee, so check that your balance covers it. Your threshold is separate from the minimum for your payment details. See Payout minimums and fees.

Fees and partial payouts

Can I take out part of my balance? No. A payout always sends your full balance, on both options.

Is there a fee? There may be. Our payments partner, Trolley, handles payouts, and fees and minimums depend on your country and your payment details. You'll see them when you set up your payment details, and the payment details card shows them as Estimated Fees. Any fee comes off the amount we send.
