AI and Samples

Answer the generative AI and samples questions on every track, and copy your answers to other tracks.

For every track, we ask how much of it was made with generative AI and whether you used samples. We use your answers to label the track for stores. Stores have their own rules about AI and sampled music. If you leave something out, your release can be rejected or removed from stores.

Find the questions

  1. On the Tracks step, select a track.

  2. On the Essential tab, go to Audio & creation.

Audio & creation section with the generative AI and samples questions.

Answer the 2 questions

How much was made with generative AI? Generative AI means tools that make music for you from a prompt, such as Suno or Udio. If you used it, select the tool when asked.

Did you use samples? Samples are pieces of other recordings, such as loops, one-shots (single sounds, like a drum hit), or sounds from sample packs. Include them even if they’re royalty-free. If you used samples, select where they came from: Splice, Tracklib, Loopmasters, Self-created, or Other.

Both questions have the same 3 answers:

  • None: you didn’t use any.

  • Some (≤50%): half the track or less.

  • Most (>50%): more than half the track.

When you’re done, select Save track.

Save time with copies and defaults

  • For this release: answer for one track, then use Copy metadata to copy your AI and samples answers to the other tracks. See Copy details between tracks.

  • For every release: set Default AI usage and Default sample usage under Team settings, then Upload Defaults, then Audio creation. See Set upload defaults.

Copies and defaults only give you a starting point. Check each track’s answers before you send your release for review.
