Every track needs credits: who wrote it, who performed on it, and who helped make it. Stores like Spotify show them on a credits screen, and Apple Music requires complete credits on new releases.
Where to add them
Open a track. On the Essential tab, scroll to the 3 credit sections: Writers & publishers, Performers, and Additional contributors. Each needs at least one person before you can send your release for review. Credits are per track, so add them to every track.
Writers & publishers
Use full legal names, not stage names, because stores need them. For each person, enter First Name, Last Name, and Role, such as Writer, Composer, Lyricist, or Publisher. Middle Name is optional.
Each track needs one of these:
a Writer (or Songwriter)
both a Composer and a Lyricist
For an instrumental, a Writer or a Composer is enough. Add publishers as well as your writers, not instead of them.
Performers
Add everyone who performed on the recording, such as the singer and the musicians. Enter Name and Role, for example Vocals, Guitar, or Percussion. You can list remixers here too.
Additional contributors
Add the people who helped make the recording. Enter Name and Role, for example Producer, Engineer, Assistant Engineer, or Arranger.
Add, copy, and remove
To add a row, select + Add another writer or publisher, + Add another performer, or + Add another contributor.
To copy a row, select the copy icon. The copy keeps the name, so select a role for it.
To remove a row, select the red trash can icon.
To change the order, drag a row by its ⠿ handle.
Select Save track when you're done.
Save time
Credits you set under Upload Defaults, or on an artist's Contributor defaults tab, fill in on every new track. See Set upload defaults. To copy credits to the other tracks on a release, see Copy details between tracks.
