Uploading Dolby Atmos
Updated over 9 months ago

What's Dolby Atmos?
Imagine your music not just around your listeners but moving through a 3D space, creating an ultra-immersive vibe. That's Dolby Atmos for you! It breaks free from the old-school two-channel audio, letting you play with clarity, space, and depth in ways you've only dreamed of.

The good news is - you can deliver your Dolby Atmos tracks through Spare Music. Your fans can experience your music like they're in a movie theater, with sound that moves around and even above them.

How do I upload?

Submit your release with Spare Music as you normally would, ensuring you upload your stereo files first. On the track editor, you'll see a section at the bottom titled "Dolby Atmos File". Upload your Atmos file here.

It'll take a few minutes to upload depending on the file size. Once it's uploaded, save the track and submit your release as normal.

Our team will review the submission and reach out once we're ready for payment.

Costs?
When you're uploading your latest masterpiece, adding Dolby Atmos is as easy as pie. We charge $19.99 per track on each release. If you upload the same track across multiple releases, you'll pay $19.99 each time it's uploaded.

We'll only charge you if we can actually deliver your track as Dolby Atmos. You'll submit your release, we'll make sure it's compatible and then reach out for payment. This all happens within 24 hours after your submission.

Tech Specs - The Nitty-Gritty:

  • Your Dolby Atmos files must be in a Broadcast Wave Format Administrative Template (BWF ADM) file.

  • Keep all tracks in a project on the same frame rate.

  • Your audio must be 24-bit LPCM at a crisp 48kHz.

  • Make sure everything matches up with the original stereo masters.

  • The time difference between your newest stereo and immersive tracks should be a blink-and-you'll-miss-it 50 milliseconds or less.

  • Aim for a loudness of -18 LKFS (ITU-R BS. 1770-4 standards) and keep that true-peak level under -1 dB TP.

  • Heads up: Apple Music won't play nice with Dolby Atmos files made from stereo masters on the fly.
