A cover song is your own recording of a song someone else wrote. You need a license from the people who own the song before you release it. Our partner EasySongLicensing (EasySong for short) handles licenses, usually within 1 to 2 business days.
Get a license
From Tools:
In the menu on the left, select Tools.
Under Partner tools, select the Cover songs · EasySong card (License a cover →).
From your track:
While you fill in the track's details, choose Yes under Is this a cover song?
Select Get a license in the banner. It opens in a new tab.
On Connect with EasySongLicensing, select Agree & proceed. This lets us share your name and email address with EasySongLicensing, and you sign in to your EasySongLicensing account. Select Go back if you change your mind. Then submit a license request for each cover song you want to release.
Add the cover details to your track
When your license is approved, go back to your release in Spare Music.
Open the track.
Make sure Is this a cover song? is set to Yes.
Fill in Original title, Original artist, and Songwriters.
Credit the original writers and publishers under Writers & publishers. Your license certificate lists them.
