Choose your release date

Pick a release date that gives stores enough time, and tell us if your music has been out before.

Your release date is the day your music goes live in stores.

Choose your date

  1. On the Release info step, scroll to Release date.

  2. Select Go-live date.

  3. Select a day on the calendar. Select it rather than typing it, or you may see Enter a valid release date.

Your plan’s minimum

Each plan has a minimum notice. The Free plan needs at least 9 days, and paid plans need at least 48 hours (2 days). Dates sooner than that are grayed out in the calendar. If you choose a date that’s too soon, you’ll see Delivery date not possible due to selected plan. when you continue. Choose a later day.

Hover over or tap the help icon next to Go-live date to see the number for your plan. Select Upgrade to see plans that allow an earlier date.

Time zone

We calculate release dates in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), which can differ from your local time. For example, 11:41 pm on Wednesday in Toronto is already Thursday in UTC.

How much time to leave

A note beside your date shows how many days out it is. We recommend at least 2 weeks, even if your plan allows less. Some stores take up to 2 weeks to sync, and we usually review a release within 2 business days. A longer lead time also leaves room to pitch before release day.

If your date is close, the Review step may warn that the pitching window is tight, with Push the date →. Stores process at different speeds, so with a short lead time your music may not reach every store on the same day. Many releases come out on a Friday, the usual new-release day in stores.

Re-releasing music

If your music has been out before, tell us when it first came out.

  1. Under Has this release been out before?, choose Yes, re-release.

  2. In Original release date, select the day it first came out.

We keep the original date in stores, so your release history isn’t lost. Play counts carry over if your ISRCs (the codes that identify recordings in stores) match, so enter the same ISRC on each track.

Coming back to an old draft

If a draft has been waiting a while, check the release date on the Review step. If it has passed or is too close, select Push the date →, or Edit → next to the release details, and choose a new date.
