Apple Music now requires full credit details for all new releases to enhance listener experience and support creator recognition. Here’s how to meet these new standards with Spare Music and ensure your releases are credited accurately.
What Needs to be Included:
For each new release, Apple Music expects credits across the following categories:
Performing Artists
Example: Rap, Lead Vocals, 12-String Acoustic Guitar, Moog, Synth Bass, Drum Machine
Composition & Lyrics
Example: Lyrics, Composer, Arranger
Production & Engineering
Example: Producer, Recording Engineer, Mixing Engineer, Mastering Engineer, Immersive Engineer
How to Enter Credits on Spare Music
We support credit entries in three sections to streamline your submission to Apple Music:
Writers & Publishers: List all composers, lyricists, and other writers. As a minimum, you'll need to provide either a Lyricist or Composer. Lyricist are required when you've stated that your track has lyrics.
Performers: Specify performing artists and instrumental roles. This could for example be yourself as the Guitar player or someone on the Drums. You can also list remixers here.
Additional Contributors: Include production roles like producers, engineers, and arrangers.
Each new track requires at least one credit in each of these sections.
What about albums and tracks that are already live?
While Apple won’t block content without these credits at this time, adding comprehensive details is encouraged for all releases to maximize visibility and recognition for your team.
